"Hi, Sheila...I saw that you are doing copyediting as a job now. I wondered if we could chat. I have a few questions for you and I want to share about an event we are putting together."
That's how this all got started.
An acquaintance of mine from several years ago reached out to me through a Facebook PM, and out of that, a podcast was born.
I said yes to speaking at an event, and before that date arrived, Marcie Sextro, who had initially reached out to me said, "I think we should do a podcast."
I was thinking....."Mmm, no thank you."
This wasn't really on my radar and I was pretty focused already on some goals I had set for myself. I've been working on obtaining certificates in levels 1, 2, and 3 in American Sign Language through StartASL.com and a Certificate in Copyediting through UCSD (University of California at San Diego) Extension. These are pretty intense courses, and I figured between that and some health issues with my parents and one of my sisters, which had me taking people to several appointments, I probably had enough to do.
She was persistent, though.
I mean, there was coffee involved.
Once Marcie started talking about her vision for the podcast, I was instantly hooked.
